Summary

Main Idea
We explore the concept of divine healing, emphasising that it is a miraculous and spiritual process initiated by faith in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It contrasts divine healing with scientific or worldly explanations, asserting that it is a direct work of God and not a product of human effort or natural laws.

Key Points

1. Divine Nature of Healing
– Divine healing is a connection with God, not a scientific or worldly event. It is a miraculous, life-giving act of God that requires faith.

2. Biblical Reference
– John 5 is cited to highlight that life comes through Jesus, not merely through scriptures or human effort. The healing of a man after 38 years of illness is used to illustrate Jesus’ power to heal and the importance of avoiding sin to prevent further illness.

3. Misconceptions About Healing
– We address examples of misconceptions, such as the belief that unhealed people lack faith or have committed grave sins. These ideas are harmful and incorrect.

4. Role of Faith and the Holy Spirit
– Healing often involves the faith of the individual and those praying for them. The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in guiding believers and revealing the true nature of sin and righteousness.

5. Challenges and Misuse of Healing Teachings
– Healing is a complex topic, with some people experiencing dramatic, immediate healings and others experiencing gradual or delayed healing. Misinterpretations and abuses of healing teachings can harm individuals and undermine the true message of the Gospel.

6. Importance of Healing in the Gospel
– Healing is an integral part of the Gospel and should not be discounted or overlooked. There is a need for churches and believers to embrace healing as part of their faith and spiritual practice.

7. Testimonies and Personal Experiences
– This article includes testimonies of healing, such as a woman healed from being confined to a wheelchair in New Zealand the author knew, to illustrate the reality and power of divine healing. It also discusses the emotional and spiritual challenges faced by those involved in healing ministries.

8. Broader Implications
– Healing is connected to broader Christian beliefs about the Kingdom of Heaven, the resurrection, and Christ’s second coming. The lack of awareness or belief in healing can deprive believers of the life and spiritual growth intended for them.

Conclusion
This article underscores the significance of divine healing as a spiritual reality and a vital part of the Christian faith. We encourage believers to seek healing, grow in their faith, and be open to the miraculous works of God, while also being cautious of misinterpretations and harmful teachings.

the prayer of faith

13 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. [NRSV James 5:13-15]

Divine healing is a direct connection of the person with God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It is not a scientific event. It is divine, initiated by faith and is a witness to how God works.

The man who was healed after thirty-eight years was not berated by Jesus when told not to sin again. All people sin. The Lord wants to bring us out of the impact of sin and bondage. This is freedom. God knows what we need for this path. The man’s healing was permanent in its effect and the Lord did not want him to be ill again as sin causes illness. This is an expression of care from the Lord and His understanding of what confronts us. The world is not going to define sin, meaning we need Spiritual help to pursue life. Jesus is the bread of life. Jesus has authority, knowing what sin is, being both the Son of God and Son of Man, having overcome sin on the Cross and the subsequent ramifications of that which follows until the last part of sin, death, is destroyed forever. All of this involves healing.

A person seeking healing may be in acute crisis, be under bondage or have major issues to overcome, yet still receive critical healing to save their life. The Church has authority to pray for healing, including laying on of hands or anointing in oil.

There are many things we observe around healing. Healing goes hand in hand with teaching and testimony. It is not a formula. Some things however do block healing. For instance, a person has no healing for many years, one day they become aware of unforgiveness, repent, then the healing comes.

A major problem with healing is discounting it, mocking it, saying healing is not permanent. This goes against actual and repeated testimony. St Augustine did not believe in healing until he saw it in France two weeks before his own death.

Men’s minds unfortunately can determine what they think is sin, disease etc., and on that basis harm others. Many subsequent attempts have destroyed lives through these false “healing” attempts. Conversely, some people are radicalised thinking healing must only come from God and not from the advances men have made in various medical areas. There appears to be very strong blockages to real healing as a result.

The first Churches knew healing was real with an active awareness of faith. We are always commissioned to restore ourselves and other people to health and therefore Life. By Jesus’s stripes we are healed. No ignorance and determination against that can hold against Christ’s power eternal act that was made in agreement beforehand with God and the eternal Holy spirit.

I knew a lady who was once confined to a wheelchair. Katheryn Kuhlman had a healing service in New Zealand. When I met her and her husband, I was told of the healing after some weeks during informal conversation. I would never have known. There was no way I could tell that was once her condition.

In terms of compassion, even Katheryn Kuhlman cried deeply at people going to healing meetings, not being healed, then going home in failure and upset. This indicates a seriousness towards healing ministry and care for others – not just attendance at a service. It takes a lot out of those who care. We see this burden for those who pray about terrible ongoing family problems that some folks go through.

Faith in Balance – a relationship between faith, balance, and healing

– Faith and Healing

People often ask God for healing during crises, but true healing involves bringing all aspects of life into balance. This process is gradual and guided by the Holy Spirit, who helps individuals confront and overcome past traumas and current struggles.

– Bondage and Sin

Bondage, such as the fear of death, is a deep-rooted effect of sin that cannot be overcome by human effort alone. Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and the power of the Holy Spirit provide a gradual release from these strongholds.

– The Role of Balance

True healing involves achieving balance in life, guided by faith and the Holy Spirit. Imbalance, such as extreme behaviors or beliefs, often leads to further struggles. Achieving balance allows individuals to grow spiritually and become more Christ-like.

– Challenges and Progress

Overcoming personal challenges requires faith, which must be built gradually. Healing is not always immediate or complete, and some issues may take years to resolve. However, even small steps toward healing and balance are significant.

– Misunderstanding Healing

There are misunderstandings about healing, such as expecting God to fulfill specific demands or viewing healing as a simple, one-time event. Instead, healing is a complex, ongoing journey that requires faith and a closer relationship with God.

Some errors include only praying for a limited time if healing has not apparently occurred, or that someone must have sinned really badly for God to have punished them. Healing is not real, only some symptom that goes away later. These are bad propositions.

Distancing ourselves from reality is a natural response to pain. There may be many tears when choosing to seek and engage in actions for healing. This yields a deeper understanding and presence of God that no one can take away. If it were not so, we would know and say.

– Personal Testimonies

This author and others have shared together many genuine healings for themselves.  The key to healing lies in faith, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

– Principle of Growth

Faith is likened to planting seeds and watching them grow. Healing, like spiritual growth, requires patience and persistence. Ultimately, healing helps deepen one’s relationship with God and aligns with His plan for our lives and our ability to  help others. It develops character, perspective, faith, hope, love and more. One realises the “flesh” is weak, offering no comfort from illness or sin. Rather, we see more clearly what is provisioned by the Spirit and our current and future response to that Life.

Healing is a journey involving faith, balance, and gradual transformation through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It’s not just about physical recovery but about becoming whole in body, mind, and spirit.

– Shock of Infirmity

No one is exempt from illness or infirmity. It is an emotional and spiritual challenge. Do we become bitter and angry, or do we take care not to be angry with others, the world, and God? There are only two directions. We all face paramount difficulties at some point. There are things that exist that should not exist, and that is what the Cross of Christ is dealing with.
